I have been a clinical social worker in private practice for over 27 years, helping people heal from addictive disorders, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, grief, relational conflicts, life transitions, and/or the effects of past trauma.
With environmental disruptions becoming increasingly noticeable and worrisome, a number of my clients have cited climate anxiety as a growing concern. I am open to exploring emotions about this existential threat and discussing skills for coping with it, such as acceptance, adaptation, and active hope.
My approach is interpersonal and collaborative. I frequently make use of mindfulness training, cognitive-behavioral strategies, psychodynamic explorations, and a treatment for trauma called Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) in my efforts to help.
Clients of all backgrounds and identities are welcome in my practice. My office is handicapped accessible and close to Duke East campus.
I am an in-network provider for Aetna and the Duke Student Health Plan. I can help those with other insurance plans to file after each session for prompt reimbursement. You may wish to ask your plan about out-of-network benefits, deductibles and copays before scheduling a visit. My 50-min. session fee is $160.
I invite you to give me a call or send an email, set up an appointment, and see whether you would feel comfortable engaging me as a partner on your journey of growth and change!
